With Certification Brands can share their circular status; how they collect precise, verifiable data of a product’s journey toward circularity—from circular design strategies and certified recycled materials to actions that repurpose materials at their highest value. It also supports regenerative solutions that promote biodiversity and provides evidence-based data on landfill reduction, emissions, and pollution mitigation.
Additionally, it highlights a brand’s commitment to ethical treatment of both supply chain and reverse logistics value chain workers.
All brands using the GCN platform will receive Impact Rating Certification to assist compliance reporting and communication.
Brands and authorities can use the Certification as a support mechanism to assist compliance reporting offering links to independent verification.
The Certification can be used by brands to show their capability to collect full circular data based on Standards published by government bodies.
Brands and manufacturers bound by laws specific to regions are required to provide metrics for reporting compliance. This Certification will confirm Brands compliance to:
- the EU Commission EcoDesign Sustainable Product Regulations (ESPR) and associated regulations.
- France's Climate and Resilience Law, Environmental Labelling on Clothing
- California legislation; Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024
- participation in the voluntary Seamless Product Stewardship Scheme in Australia.
Brands can use metrics for marketing and PR to communicate to customers.
Note: The physical material plus circular status data will be separate from a brands externally verified Certifications related to ethical standards including the Modern Slavery Act, Living Wages etc, to ensure full transparency.
Data can include mitigation data; from 3D design, to zero waste strategies plus carbon and waste mitigation
The data collection will be protected by database rights and published Standards.
GCN works with existing Standards and Certification bodies to assist in promoting published rating criteria.
Partnerships are open for data sharing for research purposes and government metrics.
European Union Cirpass DPP-related Standards Dataset
"The ESPR specifies essential requirements for the DPP system in its Articles 9 and 10, and Annex III. Based on these high-level requirements, the EU Commission is mandating the European Standardisation Organisations (ESO’s) to propose harmonized standards for the DPP system based on appropriate existing and new standards corresponding to a number of areas of standardisation. It is requested by the Commission that these standards should be available by the end of 2025.
