Global Circular Network's B2B app is linked to washable UHF RFID tags housed in textile based products creating unique identifiers: Digital Product Passports (DPPs) plus PRODUCT IDs for brands to share with consumers via QR Codes and swing tags.
GCN is a B2B platform built around product-only data — at every stage, the app is structurally unable to capture consumer or personal information. It's designed for value chain actors: brands, manufacturers, mills, retailers, resellers, repairers, sorters, recyclers, logistics providers and authorised third-party platforms, working from a single shared, verifiable product record - able to capture and share bulk data at scale.
GCN is item-level by architecture (serialised EPC per physical tag) aligned with Cirpass2 recommendations. GCN batches are defined by the scan set, anchored to item-level EPCs. GCN's approach attaches evidence and disclosure to the item record and makes non-disclosure itself visible so regulators can spot anomalies in CSV exports.

BULK SCANNING WASHABLE RFID TAGS
Brands can add GCN's washable RFID tags either by sewing or slipping tags inside products or inside a separate "Product Passport" - it is 'activated' when it reaches authorised B2B providers to collect and share product-only data.
Access to the GCN App via a RFID READER is free for EPR R-CYCLERS; accessing unfakeable authenticated product data instantly, plus working in 'partnership' with brands to assist them in meeting regulatory requirements.
Brands can offer consumers a separate third-party Customer Passport to download, which is not offered by GCN.

The RFID tag access is B2B only, is passive, battery-free and cannot collect consumer data. It also switches OFF to privacy mode at sales (first sale, resell, rent, repair etc). The pattern holds for every loop of the product's life: visible to the GCN network, invisible in the wardrobe.
Data gets created, accessed and updated as a product travels around a global circular economy — from manufacturing, through to EPR R-CYCLERS (resale, repair, redesign, reuse, rent) and into sorting using verifiable, traceable textile data (plus identify Substances of Concern to divert) and finally end-of-life recycling - to close the DPP (store data) then recycle and reuse the durable, washable RFID tags.
GS1 COMPLIANT. Brands own GS1 barcode, if they already have one — identifies the product model (style/size/ colour), the same across every unit. Not the same thing as each tag's unique RFID ID (EPC) which identifies one physical item and differs per tag (unique identifier) even across identical units in the same batch. GCN doesn't purchase, issue, or validate GTINs — enter your own if a retail/marketplace partner requires one for their systems; leave blank otherwise. ESPR itself only requires a resolvable unique identifier, which the RFID serial already satisfies.
The GCN RFID B2B DPP platform is built around the value chain itself: pick the stage that matches where you sit, to access authorised data plus add new "in" and "out" data to follow the lifecycle.
Data is entered and retrieved by scanning GCN's washable RFID tags with a Chafon handheld reader (able to link other readers)— either one item at a time, or in bulk across an entire batch - see reader specs below.

AFFORDABLE, EFFICIENT DPP PLATFORM - Designed for the 99.8%
99.8% of Europe's textile and clothing companies are micro, small and medium-sized enterprises — nearly 89% have fewer than ten employees (Euratex, Facts & Key Figures). These businesses are not outside product-level rules and the GCN RFID DPP will help them to efficiently substantiate claims for compliance. Anti-greenwashing requirements under the ECGT* apply from September 2026 with no size exemption, DPP obligations under ESPR apply per product placed on the EU market, and EPR fees are charged per unit.
Most MSMEs do not have the compliance teams that large brands do. GCN is deliberately designed and priced for them: the platform carries the product-level data burden — verified claims, chemical disclosure, traceability events, EPR reporting — so that a five-person brand can meet the same product transparency standard as a five-thousand-person one.
To support equitable access, particularly for MSMEs and NFP's, the first reader connected to the GCN APP is an affordable Chafon handheld reader. More devices — fixed readers, robotics, and API links into upstream and downstream business systems — are planned as the platform develops.
*Green Claims Directive regulations are currently suspended however the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive (ECGT, 2024/825) enforcement is beginning 27 September 2026. The GCN Platform is adaptable to add full LCA/PEF module in Stage 2 — if ESPR's textile delegated act mandates specific footprint methodologies, the data model now has the field to receive the number.

To reduce set-up costs and access the overwhelming boom of RFID tech and Readers, GCN connects to any commercial reader.
To keep the platform accessible to MSMEs and not-for-profits, the GCN App is also connected to a mini-reader, the Chafon H102 handheld reader — an affordable, portable handheld Bluetooth UHF RFID reader (approx. €97 / USD $110 per reader plus shipping).
The Chafon H102 reads and writes EPC Gen2 (ISO/IEC 18000-6C) RFID tags, with anti-collision technology that lets it inventory up to 30 tags per second in bulk.
Its read range of roughly 1–3 metres makes it suited to garment handling, stock counts, warehouse operations, product authentication, and DPP scanning.

Circular Performance Profile - Substantiate Claims with UNTP
Every environmental claim in a GCN Digital Product Passport is structured the way regulators now expect claims to be substantiated:
Quantified. The platform captures the figure, not just the tick — "50% post-consumer recycled polyester," "Martindale 30,000 rubs," "6.5 kg CO2e per unit (ISO 14067)" — because quantified claims backed by evidence are the substantiable form recognised under EU anti-greenwashing rules.
Evidenced. A claim marked as implemented requires an evidence type and a linked credential. Claims in development are explicitly labelled self-declarations — the platform distinguishes what is verified from what is asserted, and shows the difference to every reader.
Attributed through the full trust chain. Each credential in GCN's shared Credential Library records the scheme (e.g. GOTS), the certification body that audited against it (e.g. Control Union, ECOCERT), and where applicable the testing laboratory — the roles defined in ISO-CASCO conformity assessment vocabulary, which the UNTP Digital Conformity Credential is built on. In the production build, each of these roles becomes a link in a verifiable trust graph.
Across conformity domains. Credentials are categorised by domain — sustainability and environment, chemical safety, social and labour, quality and performance — reflecting that product conformity extends beyond environmental claims alone.
A GCN Digital Product Passport is entered once and serves every market a product is sold into. Market-specific disclosure fields load per jurisdiction — the EU module covers REACH/SVHC and ESPR requirements today — and additional jurisdiction modules are added as regulations develop, without re-entering product data. For brands selling across the EU, UK, US, Asia-Pacific and beyond, this is the difference between one compliance record and five.
The Seven Stages of the GCN APP
Each stage in the app is its own screen in the app, built for a specific role in the value chain. You can scan a single item for full on-screen detail, or bulk-scan a batch and download the results as a CSV.

Diversion Data - for the EPR and sorters to close off the DPP (washable RFID may be reusable, reset, resold for items that don't require the full washability eg homewares, mattresses) and to calcuate the 'waste' resources (scraps, unusable items) that are pre-sorted and sent for sorting and to communicate the essential veriable data on textile breakdown, dyes, finishes, chemicals etc - and then onto recycling or remanufacture into new products - supporting formuales and certification.

1. Upstream - Where the Digital Product Passport is first populated.
This is where brands, manufacturers, and mills create the product record before it ever reaches a customer. Each scanned RFID tag is linked to a full set of product data: SKU, brand, size, colour, material composition, and product images, alongside the manufacturing facilities involved — mill, trims, and final product assembly — each with their own conformity credentials (GOTS, GRS, Bluesign, ISO standards, and more). Last audit date and Audit organisation: CNTAC Enterprise Identity adds facility audit history alongside the existing certification tick-list.
Upstream also captures fibre-level certifications, dye and finishing details, and a tiered chemical disclosure covering EU SVHC compliance, restricted substances, and GCN's voluntary Substances of Concern register (a disclosed SVHC without linked evidence is flagged on the B2B record and in CSV exports for regulator review) — information that later helps sorters and recyclers divert items correctly.
It closes with the DPP Issuer details (the responsible economic operator), a Circular Performance Profile (CPP) for durability and recyclability claims, and consumer-facing care, repair, and end-of-life guidance that ultimately appears on the swing tag and QR code.
Brands and manufacturers with high volumes can link their existing systems via API, rather than entering data manually.
Open Supply Hub (OS-ID) listings are encouraged for every facility recorded here — mill, trims supplier, and product assembly — linking GCN's product-level data to independently verified facility records. In the UNTP-aligned production build, each OS-ID functions as a digital identity anchor from which a facility's verifiable credentials can be discovered and cryptographically verified and support efficient value chain due diligence obligations.

Circular Performance Profile
Environmental claims recorded in Upstream are quantified and evidence-gated: recycled and bio-based content percentages, durability and microfibre test results, carbon footprint figures and LCA methodology are captured alongside the linked credential that substantiates each one.
Product weight: Every DPP records per-item weight — the core data point for EPR fee calculation, which under the EU Waste Framework Directive must account for product weight and quantity.
Chain of custody: Production purchase orders can be linked to each DPP, tying Transaction Certificates and Scope Certificates for certified materials (GOTS, GRS, RCS) to the physical batch they cover.
Recycled content & type: Extends the existing metric to capture pre/post-consumer and mechanical/chemical recycling type, matching CNTAC's more granular Environmental category.
EU SVHC Compliance (within Textile/Fibres Conformity Credentials):
SVHC concentration: Captures %w/w per the JRC spec, feeding the DPP record and CSV exports.
Restricted chemicals hint: Per-substance concentration inV2 (prototype currently records presence only).
LCA methodology: Adds calculation software/version, standard used, and third-party verification — so an environmental figure can be traced back to how it was produced, matching both CNTAC's practice and the ECGT substantiation requirement.
EPR registration: Each DPP Issuer's record shows whether they're registered with national EPR schemes — visible at a glance to regulators and partners, with scheme names and numbers listed per member state.
Business size: Issuers declare their EU business-size classification, because obligations are staggered — micro-enterprises get extra time on EPR, while anti-greenwashing rules under the ECGT apply to every size of business from September 2026. EORI number & GLN: Adds the producer-identification fields the JRC spec requires for EU importers, complementing the existing OS-ID facility register.
DPP Issuers -Vocabulary note: Documents that GCN's single GTIN/EPC/GS1 identifier satisfies both UNTP's and CNTAC's identifier schemes with consideration to separate China-specific ID system.
Consumer-facing / care label & QR Code - PRODUCT ID:
(EU Directive) Issuers add the product's end-of-life collection and recycling as funded through [PRO name], the brand's registered Extended Producer Responsibility scheme — the App creates the QR code for consumers to scan to see its circular pathway.
EU note: some member states already require elements of this on-product (France mandates the Triman logo with sorting information, and producers must hold a unique identifier). GCNs promotion of PROs supports emerging labelling obligations - this is an asset for brand to promote. Brands who adopt it early via the QR page are ahead of the physical-label requirements as they spread across EU member states.
Circular Services Exchange (CSE)
Extending the life of a product takes more than good intentions — it takes the right partners. The GCN Circular Services Exchange connects brands with verified resale, rental, repair, refurbishment, and redesign providers already handling their products in the field.
When a EPR circular service provider processes a Brand's product, they can notify the Brand/DPP Issuer directly through GCN — sharing their verified profile, the services they offer, and the regions they cover. Brands choose whether to respond, promote them to their customers (eg on Website or third-party Customer Passport) or simply stay informed of who's extending your products' lives.
For circular service providers, the Exchange is a direct line to the brands whose products you already work with — a way to introduce your services, build recognition, and be considered as a trusted ongoing partner. This is a great opportunity to build strong partnerships and share creative storytelling that is mutually beneficial.
This isn't just about compliance reporting, though it helps Brands meet EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) obligations too. It's about building real relationships across the value chain — so that products stay in circulation longer, brands stay connected to what happens after the first sale, and the providers doing that work get the recognition they deserve.
Opt-in only. No consumer or personal data is exchanged — the Circular Services Exchange operates entirely within GCN's B2B network.

The RFID tag access is B2B only, is passive, battery-free and cannot collect consumer data. It also switches OFF to privacy mode at sale — its identifier is hidden and stays hidden for as long as the consumer owns the product - no personal data, unreadable by phones, and silent until a GCN authorised operator reactivates it e.g. a reseller, repairer or sorter — releasing it into its next circular pathway. Sold again, it switches off again.
3. Authenticate - Verify a product is genuine, instantly.
Scan any item — single or bulk — to pull its traceable Upstream record straight from the DPP: SKU, brand, certifications, fibre conformity credentials, original price, and any flagged Chemicals of Concern.
This screen is read-only by design — it confirms what's already been recorded, without adding anything new — making it the fast way for retailers, resellers, repairers, or logistics partners to check a product's authenticity and history before acting on it. From here, you can move straight into Downstream or Sorting.
4. Downstream - post-sale. Brands can present RFID tags as "Product Passports"
Track what happens to a product after it's sold.
This is where Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) activity gets logged — resale, repair, redesign, reuse, remanufacture, or rental. Items are scanned in as goods received ("In") and graded on condition using a framework aligned with European Environmental Bureau (EEB), ECOS, and EU Joint Research Centre guidance — from Grade A (resell-ready) through to Grade D (recycling/end-of-life). Each grade triggers its own data requirements, from resale value through to teardown tracking codes for remanufacturing.
Once an action is decided, it's logged as a matching "Out" event — capturing price, date, and next destination. This is also where brands report EPR activity for regulatory purposes, such as the EU's ESPR.
Open Supply Hub (OS-ID) listings are encouraged for all sending and receiving parties recorded in Downstream — including collecting businesses, repairers, NFPs and PROs — to support traceability across the post-sale value chain.
(EU Directive) List the Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) each product's EPR fees are paid through — e.g. Refashion (FR) — including Brands producer registration number. This can be displayed on the product's QR Product ID and care label, showing consumers and regulators that end-of-life collection and recycling for this product is funded and managed through a registered scheme.
INCREASE PROFITS - GCN's plan is to build in a brand-royalty-on-circular-revenue as open infrastructure keyed to GCN DPP
GCN to add ROI Circular Rewards in partnership with the EPR network - to capture revenue recovery, reward product longevity, increase profits plus share circular expenses such as downstream transport costs.
5. Sorting - Separate items by material and chemical content before they move on.
A bulk-scan-only stage built for sorting facilities and recyclers - that can be connected to APIs, automation, robotics etc.
It surfaces material type and fibre conformity credentials across a whole batch at once, and — critically — flags any item where a Chemicals of Concern presence has been disclosed Upstream (from verifiable data offered by the DPP Issuer - no textile guessing) so it can be isolated before continuing to EPR or End-of-Life Recycling - giving verifiable data for recycling certification.
The Issuer isn't required to disclose exact formulas or proprietary detail here — only that a substance of concern exists, with further information available on request and with the Issuer's consent.
Open Supply Hub (OS-ID) listings are encouraged for PROs, sorting and recycling facilities and operators, providing a verified, open identifier that connects GCN's sorting data to internationally recognised facility records plus supporting verified end-of-life data and recycling certification claims.
Sorting outcome: Every sorted batch records where products go next — reuse, fibre-to-fibre recycling, downcycling — documenting that sorting took place, as the Waste Framework Directive requires before textiles can be shipped.
Cross-border shipments: Sorters flag whether goods will cross borders under the Waste Shipment Regulation; GCN's per-item sorting record is the documentation that prevents sorted reuse goods being misclassified as waste at the border.
6. End-of-Life Recycling - Close the loop — and the record.
When an item reaches the end of its usable life, this stage scans it in to register the recycling event and formally close the DPP. The recycling facility, recycling stream, and output are logged, and the record is retired from active circulation while remaining queryable as a historical record — in line with GCN's role as a Data Service Provider under the EU's ESPR framework.
Because GCN's RFID tags are washable, the physical tag itself can often be recovered, reset, and reissued into a new product with a fresh EPC — while its original identifier stays permanently linked to the closed record it came from.
Every closed DPP record is verifiable evidence of how a product left the market — supporting brands in demonstrating compliance with the EU's ban on the destruction of unsold goods under ESPR.
Receipt of goods: Recyclers record what they received and from which sorting facility — closing the documented chain from sorter to recycler at both ends.
Recycled content & type: Extends the existing metric to capture pre/post-consumer and mechanical/chemical recycling type, matching CNTAC's more granular Environmental category.
TO COME - STAGE 2. Returns and ROI - Bring a product back to its brand or reseller, securely plus increase profits.
A password-protected, owner-linked stage for handling consumer returns back to the originating brand or reseller. It's built to connect with existing Supply Chain Management systems via API, so returns data flows straight into a brand's own logistics and inventory processes rather than sitting in a separate system.
Next step; GCN is developing a ROI Circular Reward platform. Brands increase ROI through circular profits. Not yet active.
