When readers detect a commercial UHF RFID tag, it sends the tag's unique EPC to the GCN App, which retrieves the matching Digital Product Passport data — instantly surfacing product identity, manufacturing data, certifications, repair history, ownership and resale records, rental status, sorting data (including any flagged Chemicals of Concern), and recycling instructions.

• The GCN has been designed as an RFID reader-agnostic platform, enabling organisations to use their existing RFID infrastructure wherever possible. The GCN B2B RFID App communicates with commercially available UHF RFID readers via their manufacturer SDKs and APIs, allowing businesses to continue using compatible readers already deployed throughout their operations.

• This means that brands, manufacturers, warehouses, logistics providers, retailers, repairers and recyclers can generally read washable RFID tags using their existing EPC Gen2 / ISO 18000-6C UHF RFID readers without investing in new scanning infrastructure. By leveraging equipment already in use across global supply chains, organisations can significantly reduce implementation costs, minimise disruption, accelerate DPP deployment and maximise the return on existing RFID investments.

• RFID infrastructure is already firmly established throughout the European Union, China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and many African markets, where millions of UHF RFID readers are deployed across retail, apparel manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, libraries, transport and industrial automation. As DPPs, circular economy legislation, inventory digitisation and Industry 4.0 continue to drive demand, the global RFID reader market is expected to more than double over the coming decade, creating an extensive installed base capable of supporting GCN's RFID tags with minimal additional infrastructure.

• The GCN platform is designed to remain hardware independent. As new handheld, fixed, portal and mobile RFID readers enter the market, compatible devices can be integrated into the GCN ecosystem, providing organisations with the flexibility to select hardware that best suits their operational requirements while maintaining a consistent DPP and product traceability experience.

GCN's RFiD tags can only be read by commercial RFID UHF readers connected to the GCN Cloud App this enables bulk scanning of hundreds of products simultaneously as opposed to QR codes that can only be scanned by making visible and only able to scan one at a time so they're not efficient for B2B and cannot collect and report new data.
